Duke of Edinburgh Award – Expedition

Course duration and objective

This course is 4 hours

With over 20 years’ experience working in schools, we can offer specialist courses for the different aspects of school life. This course meets the requirements for the D of E Award expeditions. We cover a range of core topics and additional topics – you can opt for our suggested list of topics below, or choose some of your own.

Course content

Assessing situations so you can stay safe, act promptly and know what to do
Recognise if a child is not breathing
Perform CPR on a child
Knowing when to call for an ambulance
Seeing how a defibrillator can help with CPR
Recognising if someone has fractured a bone and how to treat it
Recognising and treating asthma, burns and scalds
Knowing how to deal with someone who receives a head injury
Recognising and treating strains and sprains
Knowing what to do if someone has a serious wound

Assessment and Qualification

Candidates will be supported and assessed throughout the course
Successful candidates will receive our ’Expedition First Aid’ qualification
This certificate is valid for three years
