Basic Life Support for Dentists

Course duration and objective

This course is 2.5 hours for a requalification

We train candidates how to assess if an infant, child or adult is not breathing and how to perform CPR and, if appropriate, use a defibrillator. We will train you to recognise and treat with someone having a heart attack, how to help someone who is choking – infant, child or Adult. We will train you to recognise and treat shock and seizures, and finally how to recognise and treat someone having an anaphylactic reaction.

Course content

Assessing situations so you can stay safe, act promptly and know what to do
Recognise if an infant, child or adult is not breathing
Perform CPR on an infant, child or an adult
Knowing when to call for an ambulance
Using a defibrillator as part of your CPR on a child, if one is available and it is appropriate
Recognise and treat a heart attack and choking
Recognise and treat shock, seizures and anaphylaxis

Assessment and Qualification

Candidates will be supported and assessed throughout the course
Successful candidates will receive our ‘Basic Life Support for GPs and Nurses’ qualification
This certificate is valid for three years
